Sanctus Real on the Morning Show:
Tomorrow Jim Galipeau will be talking with Chris Rohman, guitarist for Sanctus Real, in the 7:00am hour. Chris will talk about how the band is doing after losing their tour bus in a fire and more. Hope you can listen!
Our friends, Bob & Caroline Scott of the Louisville Athletic Club shared some more great fitness tips with us this morning. I will try to start giving you a recap of these since they always give us such good health and fitness tips. Today's topic was the Importance of Good Hydration. During the hot summer months, here are some important things to keep in mind for staying hydrated.
"Water makes up approximately 60-70% of the human body weight, so all of us need to stay hydrated to keep our bodies running smoothly. 75% of all Americans are chronically dehydrated. Many times thirst is mistaken for hunger. So we may think we are hungry, but actually we just need some water. In fact, dehydration is considered the #1 trigger for daytime fatigue. Some of the signs of dehydration include: dry mouth, excessive thirst, muscle weakness, headache, dizziness, and fatigue." - Caroline Scott
Here are some tips that Bob gave to make sure you are getting enough fluids during the day:
- Have some water when you first wake up in the morning, because you have been asleep for a number of hours without any water.
- Invest in a quality water bottle that you can take with you when you are away from home.
- Try to drink some water before, during, and after exercising - especially on hot days.
- Remember to drink water BEFORE you get thirsty.
- Avoid and limit caffeinated and sugary drinks such as sodas.
- Keep a glass of water next to your bed.
Meatless Monday:
So I sort of forgot about my commitment to do meatless Mondays for the rest of the month. This morning I started out my day with my typical egg on a slice of whole wheat bread. I'm still not sure if eggs are cheating, but I thought I'd tell on myself just in case. Anyway, the rest of the day will be Meatless.
This morning we also mentioned that it's National Picnic Day. I thought I would try to find a few picnic friendly meatless recipes to share. It's also Cherry Tart Day, so there will be a recipe for that too. Ps... Is it just me or are the cherries this season especially good? I can't stay away from them.
